About the role
We’re looking for a sharp and strategic professional to take the lead in managing the procurement of major feed commodities and raw materials. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure Pace Farm has strong visibility, control, and confidence in our supply chain – helping us manage risk, drive commercial performance, and support operational excellence.
You’ll play a key role in optimising costs, analysing markets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the right commercial terms are in place for our key suppliers and high-spend commodities. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency and sustainability of our operations across the business.
What you’ll do
- Oversee procurement of major feed commodities and raw materials to ensure visibility, control, and strong commercial outcomes.
- Monitor and analyse daily commodity markets and provide strategic trading recommendations to the executive team.
- Lead Grain Council meetings with the C-suite, sharing insights and documenting actions and decisions.
- Negotiate, manage, and maintain supplier contracts in line with business policies and coverage parameters.
- Manage third-party milling arrangements to ensure supply reliability, cost efficiency, and quality standards.
- Streamline procurement, accounts payable, and vendor management processes in collaboration with finance and operations.
- Act as the internal expert on feed procurement, market trading, and supplier negotiation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, farmers, and suppliers to secure competitive supply.
- Confidently trade from 10am daily and analyse market data using Excel to support decisions.
About You
Are you someone who lives and breathes agri-trading – who knows the markets, trusts your instincts, and loves making smart, commercial decisions? You’ve built strong relationships with brokers, farmers, and suppliers, and you take pride in knowing your work directly impacts performance and efficiency. You’re confident negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and influencing outcomes – but it’s your people skills and steady judgment that truly set you apart. If you’re looking for a flexible part-time role (25 hours a week) that keeps you close to the action, we’d love to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in agricultural commodity trading, ideally within the feed, agriculture, or food production sectors.
- Strong understanding of feed buying processes and commodity market dynamics, with the ability to make timely, data-driven trading decisions.
- Skilled in negotiation, contract management, and maintaining strong supplier and broker relationships.
- Confident analysing market data and trends, with solid Excel skills for tracking and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across teams, building trust with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Experienced in managing procurement systems, financial controls, and risk management frameworks.
- Tertiary qualification in Agribusiness, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field ideal but not mandatory.
- Personable, proactive, and ready to trade from 10am daily in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
