The amount of money you will earn depends on the type of job you do, of course. One of the advantages of the work you will find through WTC is that we only deal with reliable employers, paying the correct wages for the work you are doing. Here is a rough idea of the Gross Hourly wages you can earn in Australian dollars:-

• Factory or labour / unskilled work AUD $17 - 20 per hour (p/h)
• Hospitality work AUD $18 - 25 p/h
• Office work AUD $19 - 25 p/h
• Fruit / Vegetable picking work AUD $15 - 17 p/h (or contract rates - i.e. you are paid based on the volume of fruit / vegetable picked per day or per hour)
• Resort work AUD $14 - 20 p/h

Here are a few things to remember when you‘re looking at the wages and working out which type of job is going to suit you best:-

• Office work is generally only possible for those participants with English as their native language, or a very high level of English if from another country;
• Some jobs have 'perks' - for example, if you work on a resort, the accommodation is often cheap and some even include meals and accommodation together;
• Farm work also often includes accommodation and food;
• When working in the hospitality industry the costs of black pants / trousers and shoes and an RSA course can be partly claimed against your Australian taxes when you leave the country! (Remember to keep all receipts!).
