Traveller Testimonials

"The fabulous ladies at the job placement desk got us signed up for function work immediately, where we proceeded to work several banquets and even the International Car Show. After a few weeks, we decided to move out of the city, and using the fruit picking booklet they provided, selected Mildura as our destination. We had a great time, met heaps of people, and actually ended up working at a carnival as well."

- Kara, USA

"I've sort of used Sydney and the Work and Travel office as my

base. I've started and finished all of my trips in Sydney and I've stayed here about a month each time. Work and Travel has many

temporary jobs which is great if you can't sign a 3-months contract. I've been working as a waiter, phone operator and I've done plenty of casual work in different types of companies."

- Robert, Sweden

"My Aussie adventure started here in Sydney. I spent the first week with other girls that were on the same flight. We had fun and saw all the things you have to see in the city, including both Bondi and Coogee beach. After that myself and one of the girls got an apartment where we stayed for 3 months and at the same time we started working for WTC. I still remember my first shift at work and that was 7 months ago. I had a good place to work and all the backpackers were like a family. You make good friends quickly as everybody knows each other."

- Henriette, Denmark

"I came to Australia with the expectations of working, travelling and making heaps of friends and so far I have not been disappointed! With the help of Work and Travel I managed to settle in very quickly and now I am lucky enough to be one of their new recruits in the office! I have not long returned from a month and a half of travelling around the Eastern half of Australia, where I visited Melbourne, Ayers Rock and then the East Coast from Cairns back down to Sydney."

- Duncan, Great Britain

"Hi there, My name is Sebastiaan;  I’m from The Netherlands and am 31 years old. My journey in Australia started a year ago, and because this country is so big, I still haven’t finished. When I first got in Australia, I ran out of money,  so  the first thing I had to do was to find some work. After getting my RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol), Work and Travel provided me with appropriate work. I stayed in, what I think is the best hostel in Sydney, The YHA in Glebe. The best thing about a hostel is that you always end up with a bunch of crazy and fun people. And through facebook you can stay in contact with almost every one of them ;-)
After 3 months of “hard” work and saving money I bought a Toyota Campervan. From that moment  the  journey really began. I drove from Sydney  to Cairns and stopped at every place that I wanted to see. That’s the best thing about travelling on wheels. Some of my best memories are  the  views  I’ve  seen. Whales  swimming past when  you’re driving on Fraser  Island, seeing  the Milky Way without any  light pollution (astounding) or waking up and being sur-rounded by 6 dingo’s next to your tent! I’ve been to The Whitsundays, seen beautiful sunsets near Cairns and have seen  the amazing green colour of grass  in New Zealand. If you have the opportunity to go to New Zealand, take it. Because I only had a visa for one year I did my three months of fruit picking to extend it with another year. Don’t  leave  the country before you at  least  tried some  fruit picking  ;-) At  this moment I’m working and saving again to finance my west coast travels. Cya Down Under ;-)

Hi There!!!
I am Maria Fabiola from Chile. I came to Australia with a Work & Holiday Visa for several reasons, but the most important was to improve my English…and as you can see I have done a very good job so far!
From Chile I booked an English Language course to feel more confident and be able to talk fluently at work. Then I started to get some shifts from WTC to work in Hospitality, (though I had no previous experience), to earn some money and save for holidays.
In just a few months I saved enough money to go to the north of this beautiful and curious country. I took a trip from Sydney to Cairns during one and a half months by bus, stopping everywhere and sleeping in funny, friendly and crazy backpackers’. It was a really awesome adventure!!! To meet people from all over world with different cultures and different lan-guages but with something in common… the best attitude, to make friends and travel - like me! I got to do many adventure sports: Surfing in Byron Bay, Canoeing and Camping in Noosa, 4WD Safari in Fraser Island, Trekking in Magnetic Island, Rafting in Tully River, River Sailing in Cape Tribulation and Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef with the most amazing colours that you will ever see on your life!!!! I also had the opportunity to see a lot of animals: Crocodiles, Whales, Dolphins, Snakes, Spiders, Turtles, Dingoes, Cassowaries, and obviously, Kangaroos and Koalas.
With 11 months here and despite being initially home sick, I have now decided to stay longer and, I am going New Zealand soon to change my Visa and come back…who knows for how long this time…So, Cya here!!!!

- Maria Fabiola
